Amazon Prime Day 2021 is happening sooner than we thought – in June, to be more specific. Now, Amazon has confirmed the exact dates: June 21 and 22, for the big shopping event to occur. Previously, it was believed that Prime Day 2021 would be in July.

Prime Day is a 2-day shopping spree held every year, with generous discounts across all product categories, including tech like phones, tablets, headphones, smart watches, and Amazon’s own line of Kindle readers, Fire tablets, and Echo speakers. The only catch: you have to be a Prime member.

Here’s what we know so far and expect to see on the next Prime Day.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2021?

Officially, the next Amazon Prime Day will be in June 21-22, 2021

In previous years, the big shopping event was held during the summer. In 2019, it was on July 15 and 16, respectively Monday and Tuesday. Only Prime Day 2020 has been an exception so far, as it was delayed to October.

Usually, two weeks before Prime Day, its exact date is officially announced by Amazon, and that’s exactly what happened. The two-day shopping event is bound to bring us some really good deals on our favorite tech gadgets, and we will prepare for your convenience articles on the best tech deals.

Here are the exact dates for Prime Day 2021:

Prime Day starts at midnight PDT (3 a.m. EDT) and runs until June 22 for Prime members in select countries: U.S., the U.K., the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Spain, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, China, Brazil, Belgium, Austria, and Australia.

Amazon Prime Day is the biggest Amazon shopping event, usually held over two days in the summer.

Prime Day allows customers to benefit from generous discounts over the entire range of products Amazon sells: from tech, to home and garden.

What happens on Amazon Prime Day?

Well, simply said – Amazon discounts a lot of products over a two-day period, and Amazon Prime members can purchase items with generous discounts. Other big retailers also give discounts at that time, to compete with Amazon, so deals appear almost everywhere. For Prime Day deals, you do need Prime membership, which we explain in detail further down in this article. The good thing is that other big retailers, such as Best Buy, Walmart, and Target, also slash their prices around Prime Day, so finding great deals is pretty much a given.

How does Amazon Prime Day work?

First off, Amazon announces that Prime Day deals are now available, and you can browse through them in order to make your purchase. To benefit from Prime Day deals, you need to be a Prime member. When deals are announced, you can browse on the Prime Day deals page.

Who can use Amazon Prime Day?

Members with the Prime subscription can benefit from the deals on Prime Day. The cool thing is that you can get a trial for Amazon Prime just in time for the big shopping spree, even if you’re not a member. Additionally, deals on other retailers, such as Best Buy, Walmart, and Target, will also be available, so if you prefer to shop from these ones, you can do so and you don’t need a Prime membership for them.

Are Prime Day deals worth it?

There is not a definitive answer on whether or not Prime Day deals are worth it. We’ve seen both scenarios previously, and last year as well – we’ve seen extremely good products at very low prices, but we’ve also seen discounts that were too modest to be a deal worthy of Prime Day.

Our advice here is to add a few items that you like to your cart without ordering. Amazon will inform you of any price changes. That way you will know if the item’s price has been bumped up artificially prior to Prime Day to make the Prime Day discount seem more substantial.

How long is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is a two-day shopping event with an exact duration of 48 hours. Although that was not always the case: the first Prime Day deals event was a 24-hour-long shopping event, then in 2017, it stretched to a 30-hour one. 2018 again had a stretch as it grew in popularity and that year, Prime Day lasted 36 hours.

In the last couple of years, Prime Day lasted exactly 48 hours, and it seems the same scenario will unfold in 2021. We have no reason to believe it could be longer than that, but the future can never be predicted for sure. Who knows, maybe in future years the duration of Prime Day deals can grow even further, but most likely, it will stay at the 48-hour mark.

What are the best Amazon Prime Day deals?

First off, we expect to see the biggest discounts on Amazon products: Amazon Kindle, Fire tablets, Amazon Echo speakers. What’s more, Amazon usually offers discounts on Samsung Galaxy phones, Google Pixel phones, Apple AirPods, smartwatches by Apple, Samsung, Garmin, and Fitbit.

Additionally, mid-range phones by Motorola, Sony, LG were also generously discounted over the two-day event last year. As far as iPhones are concerned, you can find refurbished units with big discounts among the iPhones deals on Prime Day, as we saw last year. Although they are not new iPhones, they have been renewed to look and work like brand new.

Let’s look at an example of what you can expect to see: in 2020, the Galaxy Note 20 (fresh out of the oven at the time) got a huge $200 discount, and so did the Galaxy S20+. In the tablets market, discounts were ranging between $50 and $180 for Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, while the iPad Mini and the iPad Pro saw discounts of around $50.

In the AirPods Prime Day deals departement, you could save $50 on true wireless earbuds such as the AirPods Pro and the AirPods second-gen. The same applied to Galaxy Buds+ last year. As far as Apple Watch Prime Day deals are concerned, prices were down by around $30-$50. We had the same situation with Galaxy Watches, while some models from Garmin saw a bigger, $100 discount, reminding us of Black Friday.

Prime Day offers generous deals on products from small and medium-sized businesses; however, we saw pretty much everything discounted on Amazon Prime Day. Whether it is a phone, a tablet, wireless headphones, or smartwatch that you are interested in buying, Amazon Prime Day will most likely have it discounted for you. The same applies to laptop deals, TV offers, camera deals, and Bluetooth speakers.

Should you wait for Black Friday?

It’s typical for Black Friday to bring more deals and greater discounts compared to Amazon Prime Day. There’s more competition between retailers, and customers are more willing to spend during the holiday shopping season. But then again, Black Friday is still half a year away, which makes Prime Day 2021 an excellent opportunity to get a new phone, tablet, computer, or accessory at a bargain price.

Are BestBuy, Walmart, Target having a Prime Day Sale?

It’s not only Amazon deals that we will see on Prime Day. Many other retailers slash prices around Amazon Prime Day, so you might get lucky with some good sales on phones at Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. Last year at Best Buy had attractive Prime Day phone deals on iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones. Target also worked to match the competition, offering hefty discounts on tech and other products. And Walmart also had deals for Prime Day on a lot of products.
