Question 1: Can I use Cat5 or do I need Cat6?
Answer: Actually, our cameras support T-568B connectors and CAT5, CAT6, CAT7 with 8 PIN Ethernet cable. For RLN16-410/RLN8-410, the power over ethernet cables for all ports is no more than 270 feet for Cat5. When using Cat6 or upper, the ethernet cables can be up to 330 feet.
Question 2: Does each camera record sound?
Answer: Yes, after checking the “Record Audio” for all cameras on the NVR, each camera records sound for sure.
Question 3: Can I connect all the cameras with a PoE switch and then plug one cable between the NVR and the switch?
Answer: Yes, please ensure the PoE switch is connected with the same router as the NVR is connected to. Then the NVR is able to scan the cameras on that switch. The PoE switch should be 802.3af compliant (48V) and supports active mode; meanwhile, the total number of cameras connected to the NVR cannot exceed 16.
